§ Mr. Dowd
To ask the President of the Board of Trade if he will consider applying for funds under the European Commission's THERMIE programme to finance further research into coal/water mixtures as fuel.

§ Mr. Eggar
It is for industry, rather than member state Governments, to apply for financial support for projects under the THERMIE programme. The Commission may invite proposals for demonstration projects using coal/water mixtures later this year in the last call for proposals under the THERMIE programme.
