HC Deb 11 January 1993 vol 216 cc565-6W
Mr. Dalyell

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on his discussions in Santiago on the case of Jonathan Moyle during his official visit to Chile.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs is in Santiago today. He intends to discuss the Moyle case with the Chilean Government.

Mr. Dalyell

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what requests he has received for co-operation with the inquiry handled by Judge Alejandro Solis in relation to the death of Jonathan Moyle.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

We have been in regular contact with Judge Solis since the beginning of his inquiry. On 9 December 1992 the judge expressed his gratitude to our embassy in Santiago for the help he had received. On 4 January 1993 Her Majesty's ambassador asked the judge whether there was anything we could do to assist him. Judge Solis expressed his thanks but had no request for further assistance.
