Mr. Allen

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will publish a table showing the number and proportion of people who were(a) claiming and (b) receiving supplementary benefit or income support in 1979 and 1991 in Northern Ireland.

Responsibility for the subject in question has been delegated to the Social Security Agency under its chief executive, Mr. Alec Wylie, who replied to the hon. Member on 23 December 1992.
