To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what is the current number of British soldiers deployed with UNPROFOR II; and if he will make a statement.

On 23 February 1993 there were 2,426 British soldiers deployed with UNPROFOR Bosnia-Herzegovina command.

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, pursuant to his answer of 17 February,Official Report, column 255–56, to the hon. Member for Upminster (Sir N. Bonsor), what is the total number of personnel who will be replacing the forces currently deployed as part of UNPROFOR II in May.

The total number of personnel who will be replacing the British units currently deployed with UNPROFOR Bosnia-Herzegovina command is 2,188.
