HC Deb 26 February 1993 vol 219 cc755-6W
Mr. George Robertson

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what steps are being taken to revise the terms of the EC treaties to take account of the decision at the Edinburgh European Council relating to a European investment fund; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Nelson

The Council of Ministers has agreed that an intergovernmental conference should be called for the purpose of agreeing an amendment to the statute of the European investment bank which will enable the governors of the bank to establish the European investment fund. The statute of the European investment bank is a protocol to the treaty of Rome. Once agreed, the amendment will need to be ratified by member states.
