§ Mr. McLoughlinTraining and enterprise councils and local enterprise companies are paid an overall price per youth training—YT—trainee week and national vocational qualification delivered, from which minimum training allowances must be paid. Information is not available on the overall amounts of training allowance paid out to 16 and 17-year-olds. Around one third of YT trainees are employed and are paid a wage. TECs also receive financial contributions from employers towards the cost of training.
§ Ms ShortTo ask the Secretary of State for Employment if she will list the estimates given to her by training and enterprise councils for each month since they were available, broken down for each region and for England as a whole, of(a) the total number of young people seeking a youth training place, (b) the number of young people who left school in 1991 who were seeking a 707W youth training place, (c) the number of young people who left school in 1992 who were seeking a youth training place and (d) the number of young people in the special training needs category who were seeking a youth training place; and if she will make a statement.
