To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what area of agricultural land in(a) Strathclyde and (b) Scoland as a whole is set aside under the common agricultural policy; and what is its annual value.

In 1991–92, 674 hectares in Strathclyde and 27,415 hectares in Scotland were set aside under the provisions of the common agricultural policy. Set-aside grant payments in respect of those areas amounted to £103,573 and £4,706,725 respectively. Details of land set aside in 1992–93 are not yet available.
