HC Deb 24 February 1993 vol 219 cc654-5W
Mr. Cousins

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment how many cases in each of the last four years were processed through the redundancy payments service in situations of enterprise solvency in each region and county and for the United Kingdom as a whole.

Mr. McLoughlin

The number of claims processed by the redundancy payments service in Great Britain for the last four complete financial years was:

Claims
1991–92 305,574
1990–91 189,185
1989–90 110,132
1988–89 100,934

Information on a regional or county basis is not available. Separate arrangements apply in Northern Ireland.

Mr. Cousins

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what is the current average processing time of redundancy payment claims; what was the time in the circumstances of the insolvency of enterprises in each of the last four years; and in how many cases the delay in claim exceeded 12 weeks.
