To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many nursing care beds for elderly people were available in hospitals in each regional health authority in each of the last 10 years.

[holding answer 19 February 1993]: The average number of available beds in wards caring for elderly patients is given in the table. There is no separate classification of "nursing care beds".
