To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what estimate she has made of the number of employees on fixed-term contracts in the United Kingdom.

The latest estimate for the United Kingdom from the spring, March to May, 1992 labour force survey, is that there were 581,000 employees on fixed-term contracts in the United Kingdom.
