HC Deb 24 February 1993 vol 219 cc635-6W
Mrs. Dunwoody

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what percentage of total carbon dioxide emissions is accounted for by domestic consumption of energy; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Maclean

Emissions of carbon dioxide from domestic sources in the United Kingdom have been estimated at 14 per cent. of total emissions in 1990.

Mrs. Dunwoody

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what was the level of output of carbon dioxide in the United Kingdom in(a) 1992 and (b) 1991; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Maclean

Estimated emissions of CO2 in the United Kingdom in 1991 and 1992 are not yet available. My Department aims to publish 1991 figures, broken down by emission source, by type of fuel, and by final user of energy, in April in the annual "Digest of Environmental Protection and Water Statistics (No. 15)".
