The executive is giving priority to dealing with the backing of cases received prior to the introduction of the new scheme on 1 October 1992. This must be cleared by the end of March.

Mr. Mallon

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (1) if he will give details of the formulae employed as part of the income assessment of Northern Ireland Housing Executive grant applicants;

(2) if he will give details of the income levels which are acceptable to the Northern Ireland Housing Executive for grant purposes.

Mr. Atkins

If a grant applicant and all other relevant persons are in receipt of income support, full grant up to the cost of the approved works is payable.

In all other cases, a test of resources is applied to determine how much, if anything, an applicant and other relevant persons may have to contribute towards the cost of the approved works. The balance of the costs will be met by grant.
