Mr. William Ross

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will publish a table showing the number of motoring offences, by category, which incur a fixed penalty and the amount of the penalty in each case.

Mr. Atkins

At present there are 153 offences which may be discharged by the payment of a fixed penalty. These have been broadly grouped in the table.

Neglect traffic directions 5

Motor cycles 5
Length and width 3
Weight and load 9

Each offence currently carries a penalty of £20.
