HC Deb 23 February 1993 vol 219 c533W
15. Mr. Dunnachie

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what representations she has received suggesting national health service hospitals will be taking action to cut costs by reducing patient care during the current financial year.

Mr. Sackville

My colleagues and I have received and responded to correspondence from a range of sources concerning this.

There is no reason why hospitals should not be able to plan their activity over the whole year, without cost cutting. We are spending more on health and treating more patients than ever before.
