To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what plans there are to introduce the national vocational qualifications into Northern Ireland; and if he will make a statement.

§ Mr. Atkins
Northern Ireland has been involved in the development of national vocational qualifications—NVQs —from their inception in 1986. NVQs have been available in Northern Ireland since that date as in the rest of the United Kingdom, as they have been developed by the awarding and validating bodies.
