To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what estimate he has made of the effect of the departure of sterling from the exchange rate mechanism on the value of the green pound; and if he will make a statement.

Since sterling left the exchange rate mechanism, the green pound has devalued by 1786 per cent. against the green ecu.
