To ask the Secretary of State for Employment how many people have been employed in the voluntary sector in the United Kingdom in each year since 1979.

Mr. McLoughlin

Neither the Employment Department nor the Home Office, which is generally responsible for liaison with the voluntary sector, records data on the number of waged people employed in voluntary organisations.
