To ask the Secretary of State for Education what payments have been made by the Grant-Maintained Schools Centre to Choice in Education, and for what purpose, during the last two years; and if he will make a statement on the financial relationship between the two bodies.

Mr. Forth

The Government pay grant to the Grant-Maintained Schools Centre Ltd. for specific purposes. The purposes to which the Grant Maintained Schools Centre Ltd. puts its other income is a matter for the directors of the company. The Government do not pay grant to Choice in Education Ltd.

To ask the Secretary of State for Education what accounts his Department receives from the Grant-Maintained Schools Centre; and if he will place each year's accounts in the Library.

Mr. Forth

The Grant-Maintained Schools Centre Ltd. is required to provide to the Department an audited income and expenditure account, balance sheet and supporting notes in respect of its activities during that year. The accounts for the financial year ending March 31 1989, and for all subsequent years, have been placed in the Library.
