§ Mr. SweeneyTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he has received the interim report of the Cardiff pilot dewatering study; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Gwilym JonesMy right hon. Friend has received the report and copies have been placed in the Library of the House.
These preliminary results are encouraging and indicate that a system of dewatering wells could be a feasible method of controlling groundwater levels after the Cardiff Bay barrage is built.
A final report is expected in the next few weeks. My right hon. Friend will want to give that report careful consideration before deciding whether to ask Cardiff Bay development corporation to proceed with a full dewatering system.
