HC Deb 18 February 1993 vol 219 c319W
Mr. Llew Smith

To ask the President of the Board of Trade how the radiologically significant materials extracted by the enhanced actinide removal plant at Sellafield, mentioned at page 33 of his Department's annual report 1993, Cm. 2204, will be disposed of.

Mr. Eggar

[holding answer 16 February 1993]: The radiologically significant materials, which British Nuclear Fuels plc proposes to remove from Sellafield's sea discharges by use of the site's enhanced actinide removal plant, will be in the form of an intermediate level waste sludge. This will be encapsulated within stainless steel drums for storage and eventual disposal in Nirex's proposed deep underground disposal facility.
