To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will make a statement on current manpower levels for the security forces in Northern Ireland.

Mr. Mates

At 31 December 1992 there were 13,071 police, and 18,741 members of the armed forces operating in their support, in Northern Ireland. These manpower levels are kept under constant review.
