To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many(a) infant schools, (b) primary schools, (c) secondary schools and (d) colleges of further education there were in Wales in each year since 1979; and how many places were offered by each category.

The number of infant, primary and secondary schools and colleges of further education in Wales in each year since 1979 is shown in the following table together with the total number of full and part-time pupils in schools and the number of enrolments in further education colleges. Information on the number of places offered by each category is not collected centrally.
