Mr. Gerrard

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) what percentage of offenders appearing before the courts in the London borough of Waltham Forest were unemployed in each of the last three years for which figures are available;

(2) what percentage of offenders in the London borough of Waltham Forest were under 21 years old in the last three years for which figures are available.

Information is not collected centrally on the employment status of defendants appearing before the courts. The table shows the number and percentage of offenders by age convicted at Waltham Forest petty sessional division and at the Crown Court who were committed by Waltham Forest petty sessional division 1989 to 1991, which is provisional. Information on cautioning is available for police force areas.
