To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will list all of the countries eligible to borrow from the European bank for reconstruction and development, giving(a) the date on which they became eligible, (b) the total borrowed in each subsequent financial year to the latest available date and (c) any repayments made by financial year.

The table shows the value of loans and investments signed by the European bank for reconstruction and development for 60 projects in its countries of operation in the last two financial years together with the amounts disbursed.

Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan are not full members of the EBRD as yet. Membership procedures are currently under way for the following.

  • Czech Republic
  • Slovak Republic
  • Croatia
  • Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia

which they became eligible for assistance and (b) the total spend for each subsequent financial year to the latest available.

The know-how fund was launched in June 1989. The date on which countries became eligible for assistance and expenditure for these in 1989–90, 1990–91 and 1991–92 are as follows.
