To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will introduce legislation which would give a DNA profile the same status as a fingerprint for the purpose of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984; what consideration he has given to the comments on DNA profiles made by the Data Protection Registrar in his 1992 annual report; and if he will make a statement.
