§ Mr. McAllionTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will provide figures for the reduction in numbers of posts as a result of contracting out since 1979 in his Department and agencies for which he has responsibility.
§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeIt is estimated that since 1979 there has been a reduction of about 700 staff in the Home Office as a result of contracting out. There have not been any reductions on these grounds in staff of the executive agencies in the Department since they were established.
