HL Deb 16 February 1993 vol 542 c69WA
Lord Inglewood

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether it is the aim of the Department of Employment to rationalise and simplify employment legislation in the longer term.

Viscount Ullswater

The Government always have in mind the need to simplify and rationalise employment legislation consistent with reducing the burdens on business. Such considerations lay behind the bringing together of industrial relations and trade union legislation in the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992.
