To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what percentage of employees in his Department are registered disabled.

At 1 July 1992, the latest date for which figures are available, 1.3 per cent, of the total work force of the Department of Transport and its agencies were registered as disabled. It is not possible to establish the total number of departmental staff with disabilities because many people with disabilities prefer not to register.
