§ Mr. ForthIn England, the proportion of pupils aged 16 at the end of the academic year 1991–92 in grant-maintained secondary schools gaining five or more grades C or better at GCSE was provisionally 45.2 per cent. The corresponding proportion for other maintained schools was 35 per cent.
