§ Mr. Garel-JonesIn response to President Fujimori's suspension of constitutional government in April 1992. the United Kingdom with its EC partners called on the Peruvian authorities to re-establish democratic institutions with the full participation of political parties and respect for human rights. Most aid to Peru was suspended. We continue to review with our European Community partners the measures taken last year in the light of progress towards the restoration of democracy.
