Mr. Cousins

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what was the number of blood donor donations in each national health service region since 1988; and if he will express this figure as a percentage of the population in each region.

The table gives the numberof donations collected in each region from 1988 to 1991 together with the populations which fell into the age band eligible to give blood. The numbers of donors making these donations are not known centrally and so cannot be expressed as a percentage of each region's eligible population.
