To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage what is the most recent estimate of the value of the Government's art collection; how many paintings are owned by the Government; and in which public buildings they are located.

No market valuation of the Government art collection exists, because the art collection is not actively traded.
The Government art collection owns 2,464 paintings, as well as a number of other works of art located in approximately 600 United Kingdom Government buildings throughout the world.
