§ Mr. Allen
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what are his Department's target figures for days taken to reply to correspondence; and if he will make a statement.

§ Mr. Kenneth Clarke
From 1 October 1992, the targets for answering ministerial correspondence are35 calendar days (equivalent to 25 working days) for immigration and nationality department and prison service cases; and 21 calendar days (equivalent to 15 working days) for correspondence on all other subjects.
