To ask the Secretary of State for Transport when he expects work to begin on widening the Chelmsford A12 bypass.

[holding answer 11 February 1993]: We expect to consult the public by the end of this year and announce a preferred option in 1994. Further progress will be dependent on the successful outcome of statutory procedures and the availability of funds.
