HC Deb 11 February 1993 vol 218 c726W
Mr. Tyler

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what steps his Department has taken to implement the recommendations of "Tourism in the UK: Realising the Potential" as it applies to his Department's responsibilities; and if he will make a statement.

Sir Wyn Roberts

Issues relating to tourism in Wales highlighted in the document "Tourism in the UK—Realising the Potential" are subject to continuing review. In particulara. The Wales tourist board was granted powers on 16 March 1992 under the Overseas Promotion (Wales) Act 1992 to market the Principality independently abroad. I approved the WTB's overseas marketing plan on 5 February 1993 following consultation with the British Tourist Authority. b. The board has committed itself to the principles of the citizens charter which are fully represented in its current 1992–93 corporate plan.

More generally, the WTB is at present developing a new tourism strategy which will address other issues raised within the document.
