To ask the Secretary of State for Health what is her policy toward the use by hospital broadcasting organisations of a freely radiating FM frequency.

Patient audio entertainment is readily available by using proven cabled (hard wire) systems delivered to the bedhead. The quality of properly designed systems is excellent, they afford privacy, and there is little risk of interference with sensitive equipment within the hospital. It should not be necessary for hospital entertainment to be broadcast on FM.
