§ Mr. LlwydTo ask the Secretary of State for Health if she will make it her policy to include a question on the number of Welsh speakers residing in the United Kingdom as a whole within the next census.
§ Mr. SackvilleFull consideration will be given to the case for including a language question in the next census which would count people living outside Wales who speak Welsh.
The topic content of the censuses of population in the United Kingdom, planned for 2001, will need to be approved by Parliament, around the end of 1999.
