HC Deb 09 February 1993 vol 218 c582W
Mr. Macdonald

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what is the Government"s policy on each of the recommendations of the European Parliament relating to tanker movements made in response to the MV Braer oil incident in Shetland.

Mr. Norris

[holding answer 8 February 1993]: The recommendations of the European Parliament relating to tanker movements raise a number of complex issues which can be effectively resolved only through international agreement at the International Maritime Organisation and elsewhere. Matters relating to radar coverage and pilotage will fall within the terms of reference of the inquiry that Lord Donaldson will hold.
