To ask the Secretary of State for Transport whether he intends to keep in place the present procedures which must be undertaken before a railway is closed.

The Railways Bill sets out new closure procedures no less rigorous than the present ones. The current arrangements will continue to apply to lines and stations which are not currently operated by British Rail.
