HC Deb 08 February 1993 vol 218 c499W
Mrs. Fyfe

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security whether he will adjust the level of benefits paid to women of child-bearing age who are prescribed oral contraceptives, to meet the additional cost of paying for a brand which has been placed on the selected list.

Mr. Burt

I refer the hon. Member to the reply given by my hon. Friend the Minister of Health to the hon. Member for Lancashire, West (Mr. Pickthall) on 18 January 1993, at column 97. Since the real clinical needs of patients will continue to be met from items available on prescription under the NHS, we have no plans to adjust benefit levels.
