§ Mr. Archie HamiltonMany proposals which could have implications for the naval bases are examined as part of the departmental planning process. Some are taken forward, some are not. It is not possible for a variety of reasons, not least because of the uncertainty that may be caused in the areas concerned, to publish the details of such work. Other Government Departments are consulted as appropriate. The trade unions and other interested parties are consulted about these proposals which are taken forward. All relevant factors are considered before final decisions are announced.
