To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what estimate he has made of the amount of capital receipts likely to be released in the smallest area for which figures are available which covers the Hyndburn constituency during the calendar year 1993 and the financial year 1993–94 from the sale of council-owned dwellings under the right-to-buy legislation.

At the time of last year's autumn statement it was estimated on the basis of local authorities estimate for 1992–93 that around £2¾ billion of capital receipts would be raised by local authorities in the United Kingdom in 1993–94, mainly from the sale of council houses. No estimates are available for individual local authorities or regions of the United Kingdom, nor for the 1993 calendar year.
