HC Deb 05 February 1993 vol 218 c396W
Mr. David Marshall

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what plans he has to reduce car crime in Scotland and if he will make a statement.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

The Scottish Office launched a major advertising campaign aimed at reducing car crime in April 1992. Scottish police forces have taken complementary local initiatives. Recent statistics point to an overall reduction in car crime following the campaign.

Decisions on the priority to be given to car crime in the crime prevention programme for 1993–94 have yet to be taken.
