HC Deb 05 February 1993 vol 218 c381W
Mr. Dicks

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what steps Customs and Excise take to prevent the import of automatic weapons from France by individuals arriving at Dover.

Sir John Cope

Though all systematic customs controls on intra-Community traffic ended on 1 January 1993, customs continue to make targeted anti-smuggling checks to prevent the importation of illicit goods, including weapons which represent a serious threat to society.
