HC Deb 04 February 1993 vol 218 c264W
Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will give details of the provisions governing legal powers of members of the RAF police with regard to traffic control while on duty escorting military vehicles.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

In the circumstances described the main task of the RAF police is to control the military vehicles being escorted. The powers of RAF policemen in relation to the control of service traffic are derived from the Air Force Act 1955. They have no powers with regard to civilian traffic control.
