To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer in how many months over the last year the United Kingdom inflation rate has been below the EC average.

§ Mr. Portillo
The United Kingdom inflation rate, as measured by the annual change in the retail prices index, was lower than the EC average inflation rate in all of the 12 months up to December 1992.
