HC Deb 03 February 1993 vol 218 cc233-4W
Mr. Denham

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how much each district council in Hampshire received in each year since 1987 under the(a) urban programme, (b) city grant, (c) derelict land grant, (d) urban aid, (e) enterprise zones, (f) estate action, (g) city action teams, (h) city challenge, (i) inner city task force and (j) national garden festivals; and what was the average expenditure per local authority in England in each of those years.

Mr. Robin Squire

Most of the programmes specified fall within my Department's urban group of programmes which are targeted mainly on the 57 urban priority areas. These do not include Hampshire local authorities. However, Hampshire local authorities did receive the following:

Derelict land grant
District council £ million
1987–88 Portsmouth 0.249
1988–89 Portsmouth 0.190
1989–90
1990–91
1991–92 Portsmouth 0.003
Test Valley 0.004
1992–93 Portsmouth 0.009

Estate action
District council £ million
1987–88
1988–89
1989–90 Eastleigh 0.105
Southampton 0.105
1990–91 Southampton 0.209
1991–92 Southampton 0.184
Portsmouth 0.250
1992–93 Portsmouth 1.184
The 1992–93 figures are projected outturn.

Expenditure under my Department's urban group of programmes is expected to exceed £1 billion in 1992–93. Details of my Department's programmes are in the relevant public expenditure White Papers and the Department's annual reports; the 1993 annual report will be published shortly.
