HC Deb 02 February 1993 vol 218 cc158-9W
Sir Nicholas Bonsor

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement on progress in the renegotiation with the German authorities of the supplementary agreement to the NATO status of forces agreement; when he expects the negotiations to be concluded; and when he expects a new agreement to come into force.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

[pursuant to his reply, 9 December 1992, col. 718]: The negotiations on the review of the supplementary agreement to the NATO status of forces agreement have now been concluded. The outcome is a good one from the United Kingdom's point of view. The agreement ensures that our forces in Germany will be able to train effectively and that the quality of life of the forces involved has been preserved. Signature of the agreement is likely in the late spring.
