HC Deb 02 February 1993 vol 218 c115W
Mr. Pawsey

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport when he expects the southbound access to the M6 at junction 1 to re-open; and what work is currently being undertaken.

Mr. Kenneth Carlisle

The southbound access slip road is expected to re-open on 11 February. Some further overnight closures will, however, be necessary before the works are fully completed in mid-March. The closure of the slip road is to allow strengthening works to be carried out on both carriageways of the M6 between junction 1 and the M1.

Mr. Mike O'Brien

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what estimate he has made of the effect on road accident figures of a new junction on the M6 west of Corley services.

Mr. Kenneth Carlisle

The Secretary of State has no plans to build a junction on the M6 west of Corley services. Consequently, no such estimate has been made.
