HL Deb 02 February 1993 vol 542 c11WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether there are any limits on the advanced technology that British Aerospace will be entitled to transfer to Taiwan Aerospace.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Trade and Industry (Baroness Denton of Wakefield)

British Aerospace have stated that intellectual property relating to their Regional Jet aircraft will be made available to the new joint venture company, which will be jointly owned by British Aerospace and the Taiwan Aerospace Corporation as equal partners. Technology belonging to BAe's other aircraft businesses will be expressly excluded from the legal contracts with TAC. BAe are discussing with DTI officials the requirement for export licences for equipment being moved to Taiwan, as part of the new company's plans for production of the Regional Jet in the UK and Taiwan.
